Start with many horizontal lines at the baton on the have screen and now is one simple single line

I would suspect hardware issue—
You can take a screenshot and see if the line is present—
Screenshots come directly from the GPU, and typically horizontal lines would point to GPU /screen buffer /display-generator issue.
In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
