Having trouble with previously owned Apple Watch 7.

I purchased the Apple Watch 7 from a friend, I’ve tried several times to pair it with my iphone13pro max, no luck.

theyvefremoved it from their iCloud and find my phone and unpaired from their phone.

this is the screen I have all the time with the exception of when I touch it, it says to “continue to set up on iPhone.”

I’ve manually paired and it unpairs after I type in the numbers given.

advice?

Perhaps the iPhone and Watch may (one or both) need updating to the newest OS to be compatible:

Else as your iPhone is a new phone to the Watch:

Wondering if Apple Support;'s online article can help you pair the Watch

If needed:

All the best :-)
