What are safari top hits? What are they based on? If I haven’t visited a website in months will it still show up as top hits? Thank you

Safari on iPhone only saving one week of history When trying to track down a link I need, I discovered that Safari is only saving one week of browsing history on my iPhone instead of one month like it’s supposed to. Can anyone help me figure out why this might be and how I can change it? Is there any way to recover the rest of my browsing history for the last month? It’s really important that I track down this link.

Trackers Apple security is reporting a lot of attempted tracks predominantly from google. Is there a way I can stop safari from using google as the search engine when I type into the search bar?

I believe that Safari bases the "top hits" on your browsing history. As for the details of how Safari chooses "top hits" from your browsing history, I don't believe that Apple has disclosed that.
