Can anybody help me out, everytime I minimise a window/application/safari etc it shifts to the left hand side of my screen and it's really annoying, I've tried for a while to figure out why this keeps happening. It used to shift all everything to the dock, now it's moved it to the left hand side and I don't know how to change it back.
Any advice would be helpful,

I agree with Barney that it is silly; maybe it could be useful on an iPad, not in a mac, but at least we can turn it off!
System Settings->Dektop & Dock
or open System Settings and type Stage in the search box

It looks like you are using that silly Stage Manager. You can enable/disable it in the control panel.
