Mac iMessage--How to Start a Thread on 2nd Line (Dual Sim iPhone)?

I have a Macbook Pro M2 Max running Ventura. I have two lines on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, one for business and one for personal. If I start a text in Messages on my phone, I can choose which line to use. And after I've sent it, it will appear in Messages on the laptop. However, using the laptop, I have no way to choose which line I want to use for Messages, when initiating a first message thread. Does anyone know how to initiate Messages from the laptop and still having a line to choose from? (currently, it is defaulting to my personal line only)

There is a section on that tab titled, You can be reached for messages at:

Then, if you have multiple sources, you can select the default one with Start new messages from:

I don't think that is going to provide what you want as you would have to change it before starting a message there in the settings. There isn't a way to change it per message.

Hey there trenaptscuba,

We understand you're wondering how to start a conversation from a second line on your MacBook Pro. We'd be happy to provide information about this.

You can actually change where you start a conversation from in the Messages app, then clicking the iMessage tab then in the drop down, select your other number.

All new threads will be sent from that number. Conversations started with the other number will stay with the other number.

I finally figured out what "tab" you guys are talking about. I was able to change it to say my business line, so I'll try that out. I almost never start new personal threads from my computer, so this will be good enough as a work-around. Thanks!

Can you be more specific about the iMessage tab? Maybe a screenshot of what tab you are talking about? I can't find anything in iMessage on Mac that allows me to do this.
