Move document files.

How can i copy and paste multiple files from my Mac HD documents folder to an external drive

When I open the Manage option on the Mac HD the window it only allows me to delete files in this folder but I want to move them to store in an external drive.

Mac mini, 10.15

Thank you Grant, I probably didn't explain myself very well. The issue has now been sorted from an old post I found with the same problem. When I tried to manage my storage on my HD it wouldn't allow me to copy files at all, only to delete them. But I now know that you have to click on the file browser on the right to see the individual folders. Then you can copy and paste to wherever....

when you use copy and paste, you are saying you intend to manipulate the TEXT, that is the names of files.


When you select a group of files and Drag them to a new window on the same drive, they will be moved, and to a different drive they will be replicated.


To get another window, choose File > new Finder Window...


then navigate until you have open the external drive folder where you want to drop.

start in the original window,

select a group of files,

drag to the second window and drop.
