I am unable to add my son to my apple cash account bc it says he is already active but he can’t receive money

I need to set my son up in my Apple Cash account he is 17 and it won’t let me add him bc says he is already active. But he can’t receive any money

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 16

Sounds like you’re trying to setup an Apple Cash Family to include your son and he already has an individual account. Two accounts are prohibited under the terms and conditions of Apple Cash.

Why can’t he receive funds to his existing account?
