Can a magic mouse battery die?

I left my Apple Magic Mouse (rechargeable) unused for several months after a move, and now that I'm getting things set up again, I noticed it was dead. So I plugged it in overnight and am still getting no response at all. I've tested it with other wires and other outlets, and it still has no signs of life. I used to use it all the time, and would hate to have to buy a new one.

Did I kill it by leaving it untouched ? Any tips for getting it working again?

I believe that the Apple Magic Mouse uses a rechargeable lithium battery. Like any lithium battery, if left at a very low charge or fully discharged over an extended period of time, it could be rendered useless ... and this may be the case here.

You can certainly try charging it for a longer period of time, but if it is depleted, that may not be worth the effort.

However, it is really easy to replace these batteries yourself. Please take a look at the following support article on how: Change Magic Mouse batteries - Apple Support
