I have an older mac that i have migrated to new. Now I wish to delete some items on old and give to spouse. Do I need to turn off Icloud to prevent deletion on the new device.

I dont wish to leave old info like photos. During a test delete the old mac also deleted the photos on the new . How do I prevent this

I would use the following procedure (it won't affect anything on the new Mac) and then your spouse can set it up in their name as if it were new: What to do before you sell, give away, trade in, or recycle your Mac - Apple Support

I did read the procedure but what I missed in my question is that my spouse does not want to have computer set up isolated from new. so Im trying to figure out how I will delete many items on old computer without deleting on new. I believe I must turn off iCloud on old and leave it off in order for the old not to affect deleting the same on new mac.

Again that you very much Im getting there having community advise.
