AOC plug and play monitor not working with MacBook Air running Venture 13 - Installed Drivers still not working

So I have a AOC E1659FWU portable monitor and it works fine with my Dell laptop as a second monitor but not my MacBook Air. I downloaded the drivers from DisplayLink and it still blinks on and off but that is all I get. Any recommendations or solutions. Also wanted to mention I am using an Apple USB-C to Digital AV multiport adapter since the MacBook Air does not have these ports.
