Unable to set time and date automatically

On MacBook Air running 12.3.1 (21E258) and set time and date automatically (with location services on) it sets date/time to May 29 2:32pm and locks it here.

There are a few things you can try to fix this issue:

  1. Check your time zone settings. Make sure that your Mac is set to the correct time zone. To do this, open System Preferences and click on "Date & Time". Under "Time Zone", make sure that the correct time zone is selected.
  2. Restart your Mac. Sometimes, a simple restart can fix the issue. To restart your Mac, hold down the Command, Control, and Option keys and then click Restart.
  3. Reset the System Management Controller (SMC). The SMC is a chip on your Mac that controls a variety of system functions, including the date and time. To reset the SMC, follow these steps:
    1. Turn off your Mac.
    2. Press and hold the Shift, Control, and Option keys, and then press the Power button.
    3. Hold down the keys for 10 seconds, then release them.
    4. Press the Power button to turn on your Mac.
  4. Update your Mac's software. Apple often releases software updates that fix bugs and improve performance. To check for updates, open System Preferences and click on "Software Update". If there are any updates available, install them.

If you have tried all of these things and the issue is still not fixed, then you may need to take your Mac to a repair shop.

Here are some additional things to try:

  • Make sure that your Mac is connected to the internet.
  • Try setting the time and date manually.
  • Try creating a new user account and see if the issue persists.
