Installer PKG showing successful installation, but application is nowhere to be found

I just purchased a new Mac Studio and I'm experiencing a recurring (but inconsistent) issue installing new applications, from different developers. The installation pkg runs fine and shows a successful install, but the program is nowhere to be found on either Launchpad, the Applications folder, or any other folder. I ran "ls -la /Applications" and the programs do not appear.

It's not a consistent issue though. I've been able to install from most of the bigger name developers, but mixed results from a few smaller ones (music production software / plugins).

Developer A: 1/2 programs successfully installed

Developer B: 0/4 programs successfully installed

I'm pretty new to the Mac OS space and never ran into this issue from the same developers on Windows.

Problem solved. Not all of the programs installed as stand-alone apps in the Application folder. The files were buried deep in default "Audio" folder under the "Library," even though I set the install folder to another drive. I guess that's the installer package's default. (please excuse any lingo errors, again, I'm pretty new to the Mac OS)

I don't think I noticed any.

Usually, if it is a plug-in type thing, it would probably be in that folder. If it is something you are supposed to interact with directly, it should have gone into Applications.

What were some of the applications? Do they have a GUI or are they something that just runs in the background.

Most applications don't need an installer package. I'm wary of any app that requires an installer as it is most likely trying to modify the system.

They have their own GUI's. They can run on their own or as a plugin through music production software (e.g., Ableton, possibly also GarageBand). These are pretty reputable developers/programs that are commonly used in music production.
