On updating my iPhone 14 Pro received error 4013

I started the update on my iphone 14 pro and quickly received error 4013. Is anyone else experiencing this? I've tried a few steps and restarted, tried again, still receiving the error which states a restore to factor settings. I've never had this with any other update before and have had iphone for years. Any suggestions?

See -> If you see error 9, 4005, 4013 or 4014 when you restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

If you see error 9, 4005, 4013 or 4014 when you restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support (UK)

⤵️

If you still need help, try these steps

If you can update your device but it starts up in recovery mode, follow the steps above again. On step 4, choose Restore instead of Update. After the restore completes, you need to set up your device from a back-up.

If you still see an error during the update:

  1. Check for updates to your Mac or PC. If you restart your computer for an update, check for updates again after you restart.
  2. Try to restore your device using another USB cable.
  3. Try to restore your device on another computer.

If you continue to see error 9, 4005, 4013 or 4014 when you try to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, contact us.

I contacted Apple via Chat. No solution beyond visiting a story was determined. I was able to obtain an appointment at my local Apple store and they successfully restored the phone using their laptop. I was not able to complete this step on either Apple computer I had. There were others with the same phone and same age (4 months) at the store with the same issue. After restoring, the data back up was able to return my phone to pre-issue state. It is unclear what truly lead to the issue but it has been resolved.

I’ve had the same problem on my iPad 9th Gen. Was working normally then spontaneously restarted into a boot loop. Unable to restore, DFU restore or update. Tried on multiple MacBooks and networks to no avail. Took it to the Apple Store who did the same and when they saw the 4013 error stated it was a hardware fault and that I needed to buy a new one from them. I think it’s a software problem. Apple should definitely look into their devices spontaneously becoming bricked.

I faced a similar issue with my iphone 14 pro as well last weekend. I was informed that the motherboard might have issue. I was offered a 'replacement'(as called by apple) which is as good as buying a new iphone 14 pro. I was also told that repair might be possible in my home country which may as well be costly.

Getting an update to destroy the motherboard seems illogical but then apple wants you to buy their phones with such updates. One thing is for sure, never update the software after buying apple.I have seen youtube videos claiming the same and now after my experience I feel its true.

The costliest phone that I bought is dead and ran just 2 years and 1 months and that too because of an update. It has given me nightmares in the past couple of days .I was a staunch approver and a fan of the brand 'Apple' so far. But with this experience I will definitely plan to move out of apple. Losing 1 customer might not be an issue for the brand but I am definitely out and done with this brand.
