desktop and documents original location not found

my desktop and document's original folder aren't found How to retrieve it? I' need data which I have stored in those folders

My whole desktop, downloads and documents folder is now not able to be located alias in its place and I’ve lost all my work I did for the day and things that were saved prior. I haven’t done a back up yet because I just bought an external drive for it and this happens. HELP

No local Documents folder or Desktop folder I have no local Documents folder or Desktop folder but they do exist in my iCloud account. How do I restore these folders on my MacBook Pro? I still want to keep them synced with iCloud. I am running the latest version of macOS Tahoe on an M4 MacBook Pro.

Computer updated now i can't find my Documents and files that were on my desktop My computer just shut down and started updating it wasn't till it was done and restarted that all my folders on my desktop were gone i can't find them in Finder only some but not all. Can anyone help me find my work.

In finder preferences > side bar check mark desktops , documents box they will again shown in finder Change Finder settings on Mac - Apple Support
