Haptic settings for iMessage
"My individual iMessages are not causing my device to vibrate, yet group messages do vibrate. How can I resolve this problem and make individual iMessages vibrate as well?"

I am not aware of iMessage Haptics. However...
You have the following options:
- Sounds and Haptics for Text (SMS and iMessage) Tone
- Play Haptics in Ring Mode
- Play Haptics in Siline Mode
- System Haptics
On supported models, go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Turn System Haptics off or on. When System Haptics is off, you won't hear or feel vibrations for incoming calls and alerts.
