Notes not sorting by title on iPhone.

I noted that Notes was sorting differently on our iPhone 12 Pro Max vs our iPhone 12. The Pro Max was sorting alphabetically while the other was grouping notes by date. Both phones are IiOS 16.6.1.

I was looking for a setting someplace to change this on the phone and found that pressing the ellipsis in the upper right corner gave me a menu with 4 options on the Pro Max but only 3 on the other.

The sorting option is available only for iCloud Notes and "On My iPhone" Notes not for Gmail, AOL, Yahoo or Outlook Notes.

Both phones are set up the same and using iCloud. AS I pointed out with screen prints, the Sort By option is not available on the 12. Also, I see yours has a 'Grouped By' option that neither of ours do. What makes these menu options show up?
