I am trying to update my iPad and I only get this in the music ap "This iPad is open in another window"

Has the new Music app thrown out any syncing options I used to have in iTunes?

If your Mac is using macOS Catalina or later, you now use the Finder on your Mac to sync content between your Mac and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The experience is similar to using iTunes to sync in earlier versions of macOS. For more info, see:
