how do I answer from a banner notification

when I get a notification from messages on my MacBook I have to select show more in order to respond. on my old MacBook I could automatically respond right from the notification? how do I change this?

How do you get Notifications for Google Chat to appear in Safari on an iMac I've followed the instructions from Google and from Apple about setting up Notifications and I am still having the same problem. I'm not on DND. I have all the necessary settings set from the instructions for both parties. There is some mention of a 'background' app or something. I would really like to rectify this situation. I am using the latest OS on an iMac made in 2021.

It looks as if it is currently expected behavior to not be able to reply to a message from a notification as your only setting options for notifications from Messages are as follows: Manage notifications from Messages on Mac.

If you have feedback about this feature, please send that to Apple from Product Feedback.
