I am still using version 12.11.0.26 because it is the latest giving access to my iPod Classic.
That's not correct.
An iPod Classic can be managed by the current version of iTunes (which today is 12.12.9.4).
I think you have been mislead by all the nonsense that was spouted about the demise of iTunes on Apple's Mac computers:
Apple's computers using Mac OS Catalina or later use separate apps for Music, Podcasts, TV/Films to replace iTunes. Make sure that you understand the following point; older Macs, running OS Mojave or earlier, and all Windows PCs, still use iTunes*. Apple have not made any announcement (as far as I know) about the future of iTunes on Windows (or even about the older Macs).
The only reliable source of information about iTunes' future is Apple. Anyone (or any other website) with "inside information" is guessing, speculating or simply making mischief. We can all speculate, with a certain amount of accuracy, but it won't help and Apple don't allow speculation about their decisions here.
In the meantime, if you're using Windows 10 (as suggested by your use of 12.11.0.26) I recommend that you update your iTunes to the current version (click on iTunes' Help/Check for Updates). The version you're using is almost three years old and several of the updates since have been to improve the security of iTunes.
* Note that the most recent version of iTunes for Windows 7 (or Windows 8) is 12.10.11.2 and that its number might be easily confused with its successor, 12.11.0.26 (the version you are using). Perhaps some of the misinformation has been caused by this.
