mac won’t turn on but makes starting noise

my macbooks screen is off so when i try to turn it on by pressing the power button it makes the starting noise but the screen doesn’t turn on. the battery isn’t dead or anything it’s just been stuck like this

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.4
