I want to Filter e-mail by DISPLAY NAME, not just e-mail address.

Why can't Apple's Mail rules include Display Name as a filter criteria? I get e-mail after e-mail with McAfee in the display name and the e-mail address is different every time.

Please make it possible to filter these!

YES! I didn't understand your response but you got me digging. This is what I found:

WAY at the bottom of the list is Edit Header List... , which has a From option in the subsequent dialog which filters by both e-mail address and display name.

VikingOSX mentioned above there is no "display name," which isn't exactly true. The problem is the display name is in the header. By using Header List... it allows me to search the FROM in the header and get both.

Thank you all for the help.

I am very happy to be able to get these last few reoccurring junk mails in my inbox!

Apple Rules works as intended. The problem is, it doesn't filter by Display Name (as I stated in my question/comment). Apple Rules filter filters by e-mail address of the sender, but not the name that displays on the e-mail.

The SPAMers use the display name to put their hook (as in McAfee) and change the e-mail address every time they send. Therefor, a rule based on e-mail address is useless against these tactics.

If we Apple would only allow us to filter by display name it would solve all the problems. I don't need a cloud service or another place to bleed money for an unnecessary service. I just want my inbox to be less full because of SPAM tactics that have been around for more than 10 years.

Apple, please get with the times. This would be a fix that would take a real programmer 10 minutes to write, followed by some testing, and then give us an update.

If you want me to keep using your mail app... please fix this!
