Took me a while to get the new user set up, but bingo, I can dance around the tabs in the Numbers sheet with ease. May I as you a couple meore questions? If so, here they are

  1. I assume that my original Apple ID is corupted in some way, correct?
  2. If so, do I delete it and set it up again? This is a grasping at straws question, as this is the first time I've found myself in this situation and am not at all sure just what to do.

I have really appreciated your help and interest in my plight so far and thank you. Sincerely Rick

It means there is something in the original account that is corrupted or conflicts with Numbers. But that is not present in the new account. You might want to look for utilities or other things you have in the original account. Searching for Login Items in System Settings might be a good place to start.
