Noise Cancellation Not Working ??

I can't tell any difference between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode.

I set the buds to Noise Cancellation. when there's a significant amount of background noise and then switch to Transparency mode and can't hear any difference.

Is it just me or might my buds be defective? Is there some test I can run?

External-facing microphones allow the sounds of your surroundings back in for a natural listening experience." We see that you reviewed this article: Beats Studio Buds, Beats Studio Buds +, and Beats Fit Pro Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. If you have another device to test the Beats on, see if the issue continues on a different device.


If it happens on multiple devices, we recommend resetting the earbuds by following the steps below or in this article: Reset your Beats Studio Buds or your Beats Studio Buds +.

  1. "Place both earbuds in the charging case, and keep the case open.
  2. Press and hold the system button on the case for 15 seconds or until the LED indicator light flashes red and white.
  3. Release the system button.


The LED indicator light will continue to flash white, which means that you can pair your Beats Studio Buds or your Beats Studio Buds + with your iPhone, Mac, Android device, or other device again.


If you're having issues resetting your Beats Studio Buds or your Beats Studio Buds +, contact Apple Support."

Thanks for the help. I tried the buds on both my iPhone and iPad with the same results - no difference between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. Hard reset didn't help either. Looks like they were defective from the start.

They were on sale when I bought them from Costco. If return them I will have to re-buy them at the regular price. That's above what I'm willing to spend so I'm looking at other products.
