Charging Apple Pencil 1

Could the new USB-C to lightning adapter be used for charging the Apple Pencil 1 instead of having to use the lightning usb-c adapter that comes with the pencil ?

It has not been announced if that adapter will work with anything not listed in the Compatibility section of this page: USB-C to Lightning Adapter - Apple. At this time, we can say for sure that those items listed there will work, but cannot say definitely yes or no to charging your 1st generation Apple Pencil with it.

Thank you Soosie. I already do charge my pencil with the usb cable and the adapter. My question deals with the brand newly announced USB C to Lightning adapter which was introduced with iPhone 15. Since my Apple Pencil 1 has a Lightning connector, could I just use the new cable instead of the adapter and the 3 foot cable I now use. Just seems like it would be a handier solution🙂

Here’s how it worked. I bought the adapter 3 days before iPadOS 17 was released and tried to charge the Pencil 1 while still on iPadOS 16. A message popped up saying that “this accessory is incompatible with this device.” After I installed iPadOS 17 four days later, I tried it again, and it worked beautifully, and fast too!!!
