apple music icloud duplicate files

when converting one file format (wav) to another (mp3) why does Music make that file a "duplicate"? is there a work around this cause i'd like to delete the original file but not the newly converted file.

iMac, OS X 10.10

When you convert a file with the Apple Music app or iTunes for Windows, the original file remains unchanged in the same location. The Apple Music app and iTunes for Windows creates the converted file from a copy of the original.


All you can do at this point (as far as I know) is use the File tab on the Get Info box to delete the format (kind) that you do not want. Or sort by kind in the main window. See the 'Click column headings to sort' section in:
