Background app refresh inconsistent

Hi,

I have an iPhone 13 Pro with latest iOS, few months ago my background app refresh has stopped working. I don't get any notifications unless I open the app(WhatsApp, Instagram, mails, Teams, etc...), maybe once in two hours it does work and it also inconsistent. I tried everything suggested on the web, including resetting all settings but nothing worked (did not factory reset the device). Low power mode is off, when I exit these apps I dont close them but swipe up as usual so in theory they continue running on the background, all settings have been checked, apps are up to date, using latest available iOS 16.6.1, happens both on wifi and cellular, all apps are set to use cellular anyway, and low data mode is turned off, always

Any suggestion to fix this?

Thanks!

Hey there Agmed001,

We'd like to help by first providing an article that shows how to check the notifications settings for all of the apps on your iPhone: Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad Once you confirm all of your apps are set to your preferences regarding notifications, we recommend the following steps to rule out some other possible causes:

  1. Any app updates available? Here are the steps to check: How to manually update apps on your Apple device
  2. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone
  3. If after performing all of the above and the issue still remains, the next step would be to let Apple Support know what's been tried as they'll be in the best position to further assist: Get Support

Cheers!
