keynote for Sierra

I want to upgrade keynote to the latest version compatible with os 10.12.6 (Sierra).

I have keynote 8.1.

App Store offers download of latest compatible version, but nothing comes.

It offers it again...and again and again.

I can't even find which version is latest for Sierra.

How to proceed?

iMac 24″, macOS 12.6

Keynote v8.1 was released in June 2018 and would not be intended for macOS Sierra, but rather High Sierra (10.13.6) which was released in Sept 2017. That is why you are not getting any update to v8.1 from the Mac App Store while booted into Sierra.

Any Mac capable of running Sierra can also run High Sierra (10.13.6) and the last version of Keynote for High Sierra was Keynote v9.1.

You can upgrade from Sierra to High Sierra using this link: How to download and install macOS - Apple Support

After the High Sierra installation is done, then you can launch the Mac App Store, sign in with your Apple ID used to install Keynote 8.1. Then press the option-key concurrent with clicking the Purchased toolbar item. Keynote shoule appear on that Purchased panel with an Update/Upgrade button. Click that and whether you receive one or two dialogs, do not click Cancel on either and you should receive Keynote v9.1 for High Sierra.

Thanks for the info.

I have been unable to even determine what versions the latest supported by Sierra.

I now assume that 8.1 is the latest version for Sierra.  It came installed in my machine, I think.

I do not want to upgrade my OS from Sierra, since many of my applications no longer run in upgrades.  But Keynote keeps asking me to upgrade, then goes into a loop asking me to load an older compatible version. But downloads nothing. I will now stop trying.

I also have an M1 iMac running Monterey which runs keynote 13 and latest Topaz, but not my old Office or Adobe CS apps.

I go back and forth between machines to work.

I should mention that I am not commercial, so cannot justify the expense of needless software upgrades.

I just want what I have to work. Every so often I prefer to buy a new machine.
