Cannot Update ATT Companion App

I am trying to update the Secure Family Companion app on my daughter's iphone. Had no problem doing it on sons phone but on daughters phone I get "error During Sync Process" message. I have restarted phone, deleted and reinstalled app to no avail. 


I did realize when I deleted app an go to reinstall it doesn't say "get" next to app but rather it's just the image of the cloud.so I seem to be downloading a legacy version of app and once old version is downloaded from my icloud it's trying to update and the update fails.i need to be able to download new version so I believe if I can get the "get" to appear by app instead of cloud maybe my problem will be resolved.


I followed some steps to go into settings on phone to delete from icloud but I can't seem to figure out where I need to delete from cloud.


Phone is iPhone 14 version 16.6.1

Getting an App Back:


A. Try Later On:

Thank you or the screenshot. As it Reads: "Error during sync process Can't connect right now. Please check: your internet connection." So, there is an error connect to the Developer's server. Try later on.


B. Contact the Developer.

Make sure the available version is compatible with the iPhone's iOS version. You'll find the Developer's Contact Us info in the app's site of the App Store.


C. Restore from a Backup:

Have a backup of your iPhone prior to this deletion? If you are not concerned with losing data, then restore your iPhone from a backup that contains this app. Note that the app must be of the same iOS version to work, as the iOS cannot be downgraded. So, if you have no backup, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always create a backup after every update.

A user on the att forum partially helped solve my problem. He suggested going to app store, purchased apps (even though it's a free app), finding att companion app and swiping left to "hide" app. This did cause the "get" option to appear in app store. However it still downloads a version that requires an update and the "error during synch process" message still appears. I have contacted app developer and hope for a reply. I will post any solution here as I have found others with same problem.

Seems to be a faulty purchase. So, return this purchase, and then purchase this once more. Go here: Request a Refund for Apps or Content that you Bought from Apple - Apple Support


C. Contact Apple Support:

You can always contact Apple Support via phone, informing them of what exactly is occurring here. Perform a screensharing session with then, so they can see this firsthand, form YOUR perspective.

Contacting Apple:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there as necessary
  • Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due do lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

I do appreciate the reply however the don't think you understand the problem.


I do not need a backup. In fact I'm trying to eliminate all traces of the backup so I can install new veraion of app rather than old version of app and then have to update old version of the app.


The iphone is exactly the same as my son's iphone and the app updated fine on his phone. So I can rule out compatibility.


I have been trying to update the app for over a week and I still get the same message try again later message. My son's phone updated fine so it would be odd that there was a connection with developers server with one phone and not the other phone.
