I constantly have a Facebook icon in the corner of Safari
Safari is wonky after latest MacOS update EVEN after flushing caches, deleting all history and purging all cookies.

I suspect you did this to yourself unknowingly....
If you grab & drag the tab to the left it will pin it. Likewise you can grab & drag to the right to unpin it as well.
