apple pay blocks the airline scanner

Trying to check my bag at the airport with my iPhone, but apple pay pops up and blocks the delta airlines baggage check scanner from reading my boarding pass.

Airport security fault This issue has now happened to me a number of times. When I put my phone near the security barrier with my boarding pass the Apple Pay wallet activates stopping the gate reading my boarding pass. The pass is not in my wallet just a screen shot of the email or the email itself. I can’t work out how to stop the Apple Pay appearing and this is stopping me getting through security gate. I’ve looked online and see the topic in posts back to 2014 but none of the discussions seem to identify a solution?
