Apple Pay asks for assistive touch
I am trying to use Apple Pay and when I do it tells me to turn on AssistiveTouch. Why is it doing that it didn’t used to do that before?

I had the same issue and this is what I did:
Settings->Accessibility->Touch->AssistiveTouch scroll down and disable Confirm with AssistiveTouch.

I do NOT have Assistive Touch on and I do have Face ID ON for Apple Pay. When I try to use Apple Pay I get a message to turn on Assistive Touch and can’t process the transaction
That was it, had to turn off the “confirm with side button” to get it to work right. Thank you!
Check for the setting to Confirm With AssistiveTouch, which apparently overrides Face ID even when AssistiveTouch is off. It does not appear on my device, but has worked for others.

Do you have a watch paired with your iPhone? The watch uses AssistiveTouch to allow double tapping side button to allow purchases.
First of all, do you use AssistiveTouch or have it turned on at Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch?
Also at Settings > Face ID & Passcode, do you have the Wallet & Apple Pay setting turned on.
