Compact Flash CD not recognized

I recently started having issues with my external card reading showing a Compact Flash card. It will not acknowledge it at all. I bought a new reader and new card just in case they were corrupted and still will not show. However, the same card reader will pull up a smaller SD card immediately but I no longer use those cards, My Canon uses the larger Compact Flash cards.

Are you getting any error message with the new cards or are they simply not mounting to the desktop?

If the cards have not been formatted for the Canon, you need to do that IN the camera.

If properly formatted but not mounting:

Cameras cards use a variety of proprietary format and partition schemes, unlike regular computer drives that are somewhat cross-platform. Often you need a translator app to read camera cards. Apple gave you one free with your macOS: Image Capture.

Cards for my older Nikon DSLR never show on the desktop but readily appear and available for import in Image Capture:

Image management software that came with your camera will also translate but, at least with my Nikon's app, often has a fairly steep learning curve. A child can use Image Capture.

If the new card have been formatted in your Canon camera and does not show up in Image Capture, then I believe you will need to pursue this with Canon.
