I have been receiving messages to my laptop instead of my phone.
I have an android phone and have never had an iPhone.
A couple of people in my contacts have iPhones, and sometimes when they text me, I don't receive the text. I do receive a message on my laptop. I have no idea why this happening or how to stop it. I don't want to receive texts on my laptop.

Is iMessage toggled off in your settings? Also check your notification settings. There is no other place it can be coming from. Even if they have your AppleID email, if it’s not actively toggled on it shouldn’t go through for them but will give them an unsent icon against the message.
I found this info: "If someone sends a message using iMessage to your Apple ID, you'll get it on your other Apple devices."
But how are people getting my Apple ID? And can I prevent that from happening?

These people like have you as a contact. So, they will see this, when they receive your info --nothing can be done on your end --that is their own account --not yours.
This didn't work for me because my phone number has never been registered with iMessage. I've never had an iphone.
