EPSON CX3810 Printer/Scanner - need drivers to get the scanner to work
Finally got this default printer to work on my new macbook pro. I had to get a driver for the printer off the Epson website. Downloaded the EPSON CX3800 Guten v.5.2.3. Printer works.
Epson shows no drivers to get the scanner section working, same with Apple.
Does anyone know of any work arounds to get the scanner section working on the EPSON CX3810 printer/scanner?
Went to the website and downloaded the VueScan trialware. I ran the program and pushed the 'scan' icon button, but I got an error message that the program wasn't recognizing any scanners in my system. Printer still prints. I tried reloading & running, but now new results, so I gave up.
This was originally a Windows-only device. There is only limited support for it on a Mac. This 'limited' support is basically low-level printing support only. There does not appear to be any support for the scanner section for anything other than Windows.
As this was not one of Epson's more popular devices, 3rd-party support is also limited. It is unlikely that you will get 3rd-party scanner support if VueScan doesn't work.
This device is discontinued. This means that support from Epson will be even more limited in the future than it is now. Translation: if it doesn't work now, odds are good that it will never, ever, work.
I'd get a new MFD. Preferably one which ships with Mac support in the box. Brother, Canon, HP, and, yes, Epson, all make machines which will work. (I'd stay far away from Lexmark, but that's me.)
If VueScan doesn't work, then the odds are excellent that nothing will make that scanner work with the Mac OS. It'll work under Windows, if you install Bootcamp, but not under OS X.
