iPhone top of lockscreen wallpaper blurry

It seems that with certain pictures the phone is adding a white blur to the top of it where the clock and date is shown.

Is there a way to it off and I don’t mean the blue you can do for the Home Screen, this is on the actual Lock Screen.

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 17

This is super annoying. I very carefully curate my wallpaper images and place them in their own folder. They are perfectly sized to match the screen resolution of the phone. I put my name and contact info at the bottom of them in case the phone gets lost. Everything was perfect beautiful on iOS16.

Then iOS17 comes along and decides to turn the top third of my images into a blurry blob, presumably to make the clock easier to see?

Apple, please let us turn this "feature" off.
