Live photos IPhone 12

No matter what I do, I cannot get the Live Photos feature to turn off! I have an iPhone 12.

How do I permanently disable the Live Photo feature on latest iOS? How can you currently turn off the Live feature? I toggled it off bu i sill comes on when I want to take a photo. I followed the instructions, but most are dated and might not apply to the current iOS versions [Re-Titled by Moderator]

It would help if, instead of saying "No matter what I do," you just said what you actually did! We can have no idea. For instance, did you click the live photo icon at the top of the screen?
