I am contemplating the new iPhone 15 but understand it also has the new eSim "card". I presume/hope that, after activation here in the States on T-Mobile, it will function normally overseas on any other system and/or provider?

If you purchase an iPhone manufactured for the US, which is dual eSim and then take it to a country where eSim is not supported, it won't function for cellular service in that country.
Do you live in the US? If you don't, don't buy your iPhone in the US. Buy it where you live and will use it.
You can use Wifi while traveling. You can set up Roaming with your carrier while traveling. You just won't be able to set up temporary cellular service in a country where eSim is not supported. But there would no reason you can't use a US purchased iPhone in other countries while traveling to them.
Yes, I live in the US but I do frequently travel to Eastern Europe and am not sure how or if the 15 will work over there. This is disappointing. I would have thought after activation that it would work anywhere like most if not all other devices. Thanks for the information regardless.
Does eSim have any bearing on the location/service provider in which it's working after activation? IE, once activated, can this phone be used in a country where eSim is not yet supported?
