Passcode lockout in my pocket

I'll randomly be walking and when go to check my phone, i'll notice that I've been locked out due to passcode failures. Its been happening a lot recently and it's gotten to the point where I'm locked out for an hour or longer. What do I do to help prevent this from happening? Is there a setting I can enable / disable to require face-ID only (assuming the phone has been properly unlocked)? or something else I could consider doing? TIA

Do this:

Open Settings

Tap Accessibility

Tap Touch

Turn off Tap to Wake

This will stop your phone from registering input from your phone screen being touched in your pocket. You won't be able to tap your screen to wake your iPhone, so you'll need to quickly tap the side power button to wake your phone.

If you are not the owner and do not have the Apple ID and Password then there is no way that you can get into this iPhone unless the original owner shares the Apple ID and password with you. If you are lucky you can get into this iPhone if they (owner) accidentally remove the device from their Apple ID.

Your phone is sensing your body through your clothing and is essentially “pocket dialing” your passcode.

If you routinely carry your phone in your pocket (not a good idea for a ~$1,000 piece of delicate electronics unless it is in a protective case) you need to do 2 things:

(1)Go to Settings/FaceID & Passcode and turn off Raise to Wake.

(2)Put the phone in your pocket with the BACK against your body so skin contact doesn’t activate it. This may seem counterintuitive, but it is more important to protect the back than the front; a screen can be replaced, but if the back glass breaks the whole phone must be replaced.
