Can't magnify in Markup after iPhone iOS 17 Update

I too miss the magnifier in markup. I went to use it last Sunday on a photo to send to a vendor, poof it’s gone.

Apple has a habit of adding more glitz and glamour to updates then substance. Several years ago I sent feedback for an issue, it still hasn’t been resolved, guess they don’t listen to the little guys.

I think it would be helpful and put an ease to some minds, if they could make some kind of announcement about what’s going on, what’s being addressed and what’s going to remedy the update.

Do they even check and read messages here? I used the magnifier often, magnified pictures were incorporated to my keynote presentation. I used the magnifier when returning items purchased online to show cracks or dents. It’s so useful in many ways so please developers fix this right away!

Rue ~ Although Apple administers these communities, that doesn't include reading each of thousands of daily posts for possible feedback. However, Apple will "read all feedback carefully" here:

My phone updated. Now like everyone else my magnifier in photo editor is gone!!!! I use it all the time in my business for fish painting. Does anyone know if I can uninstall the latest update or if other phones have this feature. I am so disappointed in Apple taking away features from customers, for no reason. If would have known I would have never done the update.

I’m so upset about this too as I used the magnifying feature regularly and it’s just soooo wrong to REMOVE features that you’ve given to us previously!!! Updates should only be to fix issues that are harmful in anyway &/or “add features” but DONT EVER TAKE ANYTHING AWAY, I hate Apple does this!!! Where can I go to complain, because they don’t make it easy to do so. Maybe Apple could allow us to choose if we want it?

Enlarging text is not what I’m looking for. Prior to the recent IOS release and as late as October, if you had a picture of crowd or group and wanted to magnify the image of a single person or smaller collection of people in the photo the Magnify option on the Markup tool allowed you to do so. Thanks for your suggestion.

Again, i ask why? Why take an intuitive feature, like the ability to put a square frame around something in your image, and turn it into such a dreary process. Now it defaults to obscuring the image with a filled in block of color, requiring several steps just to use for its most obvious intended purpose

Are they planning to ditch markup altogether? Because that’s sort of how it feels.

I received a reply from apple to use magnifier through accessibility. Why? So I can take another screenshot? Then open another app to create a red circle around the text or area I’m describing? To do it again when I try to type text for it? Then, I guess I should share it to my mail, so I can take even longer to simply magnify a small location and label it to show an employee where the mess up is…. The person replied …”you can add filters..” this is not for fun or art. This is for work. Thanks apple…

I work as a Production Engineer in electronics manufacturing, the magnifier function is brilliant for magnifying faults on PCB assemblies without enhanced vision equipment. Please put this back in Apple.

This is downright infuriating. I use that tool EVERY SINGLE DAY (Im a small youtuber).

and they DOUBLED my workflow time by changing the shape tool! Now i have to select the color EVERY SINGLE TIME when not duplicating but worse, they FILL IT IN AUTOMATICALLY! WHAT THE HECK APPLE most people are higlighting something and just want the outline! Why would you have it default to solid?! Please just put it back the way it was. I dont understand these companies. We get into workflows FOR DECADES and then a youngen comes along wanting to change it that probably never used the features a day in their lives OR changes it to SUIT THEIR NEEDS. Forget the millions who have a workflow set up for a decade! Like i said, infuriated!

Yes, same happened to me too. I was perfectly good with my 16 iOS, but then one day I found out that my phone is updated and there is no magnifier option anymore in the markups. I often use it and need it😢 please, kindly return this feature.

Just updated my phone to iOS 17.2.1 today, still no magnifier option in photo edit.

I think Apple is now concerned with the issue on their series 9 watches. Being accused of a copyright infringement with a feature in the watch.

Pls bring back the Magnifier in the next iOS update. It was so easy to do photo edit when u need to highlight the importance of certain thing. It defeats the purpose of downloading 3rd party app to do the thing we originally can.

Just had the updated be done over night on my phone and I’m currently working and went to use the editing feature and went to use the magnifying option well guess what now I’m here and I and everyone else would appreciate that the old editing feature ( markup editing ) be brought back as it was more efficient and or add back the options that were removed/replaced back.
