moving photos from iphone to new macbook

I recently bought a new macbook Air. I moved all my movies and music from my old system but forgot to move my photos. I reformatted the old hard drive already so those photo files are gone. Thank Jobs, I had previously synced my entire photo library to my iPhone, so I have all 7000+ photos and videos on the phone. The problem is that I can’t figure out how to move them from the iPhone to the Macbook. If I sync my phone to iCloud, it tells me that it will delete any photos synced through FInder (6000+ photos), which would be a disaster. I tried selecting all 7000+ photos and sending them to my iCloud drive, but it only sent about 2500 of them (I tried this multiple times with the same result). I tried sending them to Dropbox, but that was even worse - it only sent 120 photos.

Can someone tell me how I can move my photo library contents from my iPhone SE (2nd Gen) to my Macbook Air (M2, 2022)?
