Custom Text Tones not showing

Hello Community!

I have upgraded my phone to IOS 17, and the ability to set custom text tones is gone! I had many on my old OS and they all disappeared and aren't showing. Has anybody been experiencing this? Will it be fixed soon?

Yup, it appears to be gone at present. Some of my previously purchased tones are still available but I tried to purchase one this morning and it didn't show up. All my previously purchased tones are available to use as ringtones. They cannot, however, be selected for anything else. No one here would know Apple's plans for the future. It's unclear if this is an intentional change or a byproduct of something else. I'm leaning toward the latter but, we'll see.

I suggest that you submit feedback to Apple:

Note that, as of this morning, iOS 17 was not an option in the drop down menu. Just make sure to put it in the text box.

Yeah, the exact same thing happened to me. I made a bunch of really nice text tones, and I’ve got the original GarageBand files but they’re not where they’re supposed to be - on the ISO!
bummer.
Hope they’ll fix this soon because it would you know what if they didn’t.
Come on, let’s get with the program!

The more people who do, the more likely the problem is to get resolved.

Hey so I just noticed this last night as well.

My custom tones are still showing in my "Ringtone" selections. But it seems like in iOS 17 "Text Tones" are not the same file format or something.

If I create a custom tone in GarageBand and "Share->Export Song as Ringtone->Use Sound As...->Text Tone" it works but I cannot choose it from the list in my Text Tones settings.

VERY frustrating!

I added a Custom Text Sound for the 1st time tonight and although the name show in "Sounds & Haptics, Text Tone" it does not show up anywhere in any list. The Tone works when I get Texts, but I cannot select it. If I change anything, I have to add it again with a different name via GarageBand and make it a Text Sound again. It seems odd that people say this is a new problem in iOS 17.

I noticed this Thursday 10/12 I wanted to change my Text Tone to my ”Sonic the Hedgehog” and now it is missing along with some other purchased tones. I had a funny one for new voicemails it was the tiktok “Emotional Damage” guy. Made a mistake changed it now I can’t find it anymore. So now I’m just waiting in limbo to not change anything else and looking for the next update to fix it maybe.
