WatchOS 10 battery life

I just updated my phone a few hours ago to 17.0.3 and I’ve only lost 4% battery since on my watch. Dare I hope the problem has been fixed with this patch.

Take the Ultra 2 back or contact Apple Support. That is a faulty watch IMHO, nothing to do with any update

Most of the time battery drain after an update is caused by third party apps being untested by the developers in the updated iOS

It’s been 5 days since I updated on my Apple Watch 7, and battery life is still dismal. The watch was both rebooted and unpaired/repaired yesterday when I got my iPhone 15. No change on watch battery life.

Thanks for your help. Same for me after 10 days. Unpairing and repairing with backup did nothing.

So I guess to resolve I need to set as new Watch. Really a pain, but if it's solved afterwards, I'll give it a try.

Within 20 minutes of pulling it off the charger, it had dropped 10%, and it kept dropping rapidly. I took it off the charger about 6:30 am and by 1 pm it was completely dead. I had it in low power and airplane mode. My problem started with the update just before 10, and it's gotten worse with 10.

If you mean watch OS 10 is the issue, yes it is.

I'll have another check to your links, but if after having restored my watch, I need to restore my iphone, I'm not a beta tester.

There are dozen of people having the same issue on different forums.

My series 7 has since downloading the update gone from approx 2.2days between charges to around 24hrs . My watch was at 100% at 11pm last night when I woke up it was on 74% at 8am. It’s now 5.20pm and the watch is showing 19% my faith in Apple is rapidly declining

Series 5 here. Before the 10.0 update, the watch battery was seldom less that 30% when I put it on the charger at night. Now I am fortunate to end the day with 15% and sometimes it goes into power saving mode in the evening. This never happened before the update. Restarting the watch doesn't seem to help. I've seen excess watch battery usage for a day or so after updates before, but this one is more than a week old and it's still bad. Maybe not as bad as some report, but close to making the watch nonfunctional, as I can now no longer count on it run for an entire day.

My experience is roughly 10% battery usage per hour since watchOS 10, so I'm afraid you may have gotten a new watch but not a solved problem. And the very fact that Apple was willing to give you one strongly suggests that they don't yet understand the problem is with watchOS 10.

I wonder, has anyone tried resetting the watch to factory and reconnecting to your phone?

im also seeing a massive decrease in Iwatch battery life after iOS 10. I used to be able to go 4 days with my ultra 1 in power save mode without charging now I can barely make it 24 hours.

had I knew this was going to be the case I would not have spent $1000 on this watch. I hope that address this issue soon. I bought the ultra bc of the better battery life in the first place.

i power cycled the watch and the phone and hope that helps but I’m not optimistic

Since the 7th of Oct when I posted this.

I’ve noticed over last few days it’s not lasting quite as long again.

i checked, it’s last little over 36hrs before needing charging again but crucially the health has dropped to 89 % so that has decreased by 3% in just over 2 weeks :/

Did the update 10/28, battery dies in 5.5 hours on my series 6. Used to get 36-48 hours without any issue and using it constantly. Now I get 5.5 not using it at all. Talked to customer service and they can’t run diagnostics on it because it won’t connect to their server. Suggesting I go to a retail location. It’s very frustrating.

Yes I cant even make it through the day with having to charge it twice and my batterys maximum capacity is at 100%

After a clean install. Exactly the same. Battery lasts 7 hours instead of 12 before watch OS 10 update.
