TURN OFF AUTOMATIC OS UPDATES! (General/ Software Update, top of screen/ Automatic updates slider

Now, go to General/ Storage and delete update data (should be at top of list).

"1" in red circle will still appear, with orange "Download and Install" link. IGNORE IT!

Attempts to update my Ultra to 10.4 resulted only in it getting stuck on "preparing" and my battery drained every 2 hours or so, without the usual haptic alert. "Update stuck on 'preparing'" and "battery draining with update"

have had many many posts since the update posted to Apple watches. This fixed it for me.

Note: I live in the country with no near neighbors and depend on the watch's fall detector to get help, so having the watch drained with no alert could be drastic or even fatal. I hope others in the same situation will see this and find that it works for them!
