How to disable "are you sure" question when you end a workout?

Hey, is it possible to DISABLE the "are you sure?" question when you end a workout? Having to click twice to end a workout, instead of once, is very frustrating. TIA.

Hi - well my experience and complaint are the same. I have to hit a button twice, instead of once, to end a workout and am not happy with that. I don't do consecutive workouts - just one, and want to end it by one press instead of two. I've complained to Apple.

The difference is that the workout actually ended with the first tap. The Done was to confirm you have seen the summary and done with it. You didn’t actually even have to click on it unless you want to start a new workout the same time. After a while it used to automatically reset back as if you clicked Done.

“End the workout on Apple Watch

When you reach your goal, you hear a tone and feel a vibration. If you’re feeling good and want to continue, go ahead—your Apple Watch continues to collect data until you tell it to stop. When you’re ready to end your workout:

  1. Swipe right, then tap End.
  2. Turn the Digital Crown to scroll through the results summary, then tap Done at the bottom.

I disagree LD150. If you look at what you provided it says you 1) swipe right hit end (the red X) and then 2) use the scroll wheel to scroll down the workout summary to hit done.

Now you hit end (still a red X), then you must tap a second time answering “Are You Sure?” and then you need to tap an X at the top left hand side of the workout summary closing the summary. So now there are three things a user must do to complete a workout.

My personal opinion is that I only want to do the first of these three actions.

If the new Are You Sure? tap has been put in place because the workout end is being triggered by users who are wearing clothing that is sweaty and interacts with the watch unknowingly then provide a switch in settings that users can set to add this last step. I can confirm that I do not have these issues and this added tap is annoying to me.

I also never, ever, wanted to scroll to the bottom of the summary to tap “Done”. I wished it would go away as soon as the display changed back to the clock. Especially annoyed that I needed to scroll down and tap it when I wanted to start a new workout a couple of minutes (or more) later.

These are obviously first world problems and there are others scattered around their products. In this case I can live with the added tapping and I continue to buy Apple products. But I always remember that Apple implemented this design on purpose and that says something about them too.

I agree that this is an extra step. Before WatchOS 10 I simply swiped left then hit the red X to stop it. Now I swipe left, hit the red X and then get the "Are you sure" prompt. I actually like this change though because quite often during a workout I might be a bit tired and distracted so when I found myself wanting to pause a workout I would accidentally end it.

I fully appreciate your frustration though Squiddz so all I would ask is that if you do make a feature request, or if Apple is reading this, then please make it a user-selectable option in the workouts setting to select if that are-you-sure prompt comes up or not after the red X is pressed. You do imply in your original post that is what you are asking for - an option to disable it - but I just wanted to chip in as someone who likes the change to make that 100% explicit so that any feature request that might get acted on is not taken as a request to remove the are-you-sure check completely but rather make it an optional setting.

OP here - yes thank you for your concern and I did request it to be an OPTION to disable this setting.

Frankly I was surprised to see a "get over it" response on a SUPPORT forum but it's nice to see that others feel the way I do and I hope that the option is available at some point.

Thanks to those who have replied.

One person’s annoying extra tap is another person’s safety against accidentally messing up a long workout, or a triathletes requested feature over many years.

Make sure the replacement smart watch only has a single tap to finish (and that it interfaces seamlessly with your iphone) Apple are not reading this and the volunteer responders really don’t mind either way.

I have no problem with people describing how this feature makes sense for some applications. Provided that alternate views are accepted as well. This thread shows that there is at least a small group of people who don't like the new behavior of the workout app and are annoyed enough to document it in this forum. They even provided a potential "hack" to get around the extra tap. As posted previously I myself do not like it.

Apple's policy of silence certainly makes it seem like they don't care (as opposed to being arrogant :) ). I do not believe Apple developers are trying to stick it to us, and we don't have enough insight into the app to make the assertions as to Apple's reasons for this implementation. All we can speak properly about is our experiences with Apple devices & software.

I actually have waited a few weeks... Googled to see if there was a way to turn it off and found this thread....

I see that it could be useful if you happen to have bumped it one time on an important workout and lost your data, but as an every time question... What is this Windows 95!

This really needs put into a settings function... If I mess up and bump end workout oh darn woe is me... One of my workouts is not correct, but sure beats having to press end Yes every single time for the rest of my usage.

If I am doing a 5k or 10k I probably would want that on.. But only then. Its not needed everyday.
