Yoctoville Alarmed app on Iphone not allowing edit and crashing

After updating to iOS 17 released yesterday, The Alarmed app suddenly will not allow edit or go to settings. Its crashing with every click.

From the reference link: Alarmed app on Iphone not allowing edit - Apple Community and http://yoctoville.com/workarounds mentioned,

I tried these workarounds but they are not working. All other functions of app work properly. Rebooting phone did not fix.,

Is anyone facing the same issue or can suggest to resolve this.

I encountered this issue when I inherited my wife's old iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The Alarmed app would crash every time I tried to edit an alarm (either by tapping the alarm entry and tapping "Edit", or double-tapping the alarm entry) or when I tapped on the settings icon in the bottom toolbar of the Alarmed app.

One of the posts in this thread led me to a solution that worked for me.

I had to turn off "Larger Accessibility Sizes" (go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Larger Text).

This prevented the crashing problem.

Of course, now I can't use the larger text sizes, so I struggle to read the text on the screen, so not an ideal solution, but at least I can use the Alarmed app again!

Below is what shared by developer to me and it worked very well at least to restore the data.

This is a long shot, but you might try logging out of your main iCloud account in the iOS Settings app (account > Sign Out). This will remove local iCloud data from your phone but will leave everything in iCloud. Then do two things:

1) try Alarmed right search

2) Sign back into your iCloud account in iOS Settings app, then try Alarmed again.

For me Developer was very helpful and he replied to me back and forth to help me fix it but eventually after even getting a new phone, Alarmed didn't work.

Here is the reply I got from the developer.

I was afraid that might be the case. This issue is not due to the physical hardware,
but rather something in your iOS settings. When you did the restore from an iTunes backup,
it would have restored all iOS settings (even subtle or hidden ones).
This is the most perplexing bug I’ve ever encountered. It is very rare (I’ve only
had a handful of reports since iOS 17 was released). A few people find it is resolved
with the “reset all settings” but for others this either didn’t work at all
or the issue returned a day or so later. I really don’t have anything further
I can suggest trying. It is likely that setting your phone up as new vs doing a restore
would fix things, but that would require a LOT of effort on your part and likely
isn’t worth it for a single app. My apologies :(

A few months back it worked to change text size smaller, but it doesn’t now. I found out the developer passed away, and I guess no executors put his code into public domain so I don’t know if there is still a workaround for us.

Oh, that's unfortunate. I was acquainted, many years ago, with his sister. She was in one of my "How to Use Your iPhone" classes. It was a very worthy app.

Hey there babulbansal1,

We'd like to help. The next steps to take are the ones listed here since they address the issue you described:

1.Close and reopen the app

Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

2.Restart your device

Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

3.Check for updates

To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.

4.Delete the app, then redownload it

Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

Please keep in mind that the steps do include getting in touch with the app developer's support if needed.

Cheers!

I am also more than disappointed..

couldn’t find an other app, to trust my appointments with.

but since last week, i am using „Due- reminders..“ and its the first app that can successfully replace my beloved alarmed app.

i was not sure if I should try Due( as it cost 9€) but I must confess its the only app comparable to alarmed.

Only one thing is missing: i can’t set a Pre-Alarm.. but I can’t have everything. At least i m not forgetting any appointments anymore🥲

the time without alarmed was really tough 😫

I'm having the same issue after updating my iOS to 17.1.1. The suggested solution does not apply to me because there's no Alarmed in Control Center where we can change the font size (there's a handful of other apps in Control Center, but Alarmed is not one of them and it's not possible to add an app to this list).

So now I am stuck because I cannot edit any of my reminders in Alarmed, this is most likely a code compatibility issue with iOS 17.1.1. Please as the developer(s) to test it again in iOS 17.1.1, they will see the same issues we're having.

You need to rely on Apple Support for this.

I purchased this app, so all my data was in iCloud, so I was able to get the data at least. Not sure what other way you can use now to take a backup of this.

I am now using another app for reminders.

See my previous reply. All of the below are done multiple times.
