Watch OS 10 Dock/app switcher broken

I have used the app switcher/dock on my watch to switch between 3 or 4 apps I like to use. Now on WatchOS 10, I can’t do that. Am I missing something or is it broken?

This was the most ridiculous change! I use that functionality all day everyday to get to my Authenticator apps double-clicking the crown is horrible way to get there. Also I never use the control center!!!! Please fix this Apple!

Open apps on Apple Watch explains how to:

"Open an app from the App Switcher

  1. Double-click the Digital Crown, then turn the Digital Crown to scroll through your most recently used apps.
  2. Note: Apps that are currently running a session—a Maps navigation session or a Workout session, for example—appear at the top of the list of apps.
  3. Tap an app to open it."

It is beyond me that Apple would remove one of the major features of the watch. The dock allowed the User to add a physical shortcut to their most used apps as opposed to having to scroll through the list of useless kiddie apps that are standard. As a business person I need to quickly access all major forms of communication tools without delay. They need to add this function back or lose the race to Google.
