I put my messenger app font size down to 135% and now it works. I was able to use this to figure out how to get everything else at 160%. I guess I have old eyes.

There is an update in the Apps that fixed the problem.
Messenger app non operative after 17.0 update. I’ve made sure everything is updated, I’ve deleted app and reinstalled the app and Messenger is not working ie it will not open or function at all…any fixes coming? Anything I can do?

I’m having same issue. Closes soon as you attempt to open it. I’ve uninstalled Messenger and reinstalled it and yesterday an update came out which still didn’t fix the issue. I’ve also done a hard reboot and reset all settings. Using iPhone 13 Pro Max on iOS 17. Messenger worked till I updated to iOS 17.

Same thing is happening to me. It is driving me nuts. I have tried everything and nothing seems to fix it. I have an iPhone 11.

Facebook Messenger app not working since update to IOS17 on my iPhone XR.
It crashes immediately when I try to launch it every attempt! I have deleted it & reinstalled it & have also shut down & restarted my iphone. No difference.
It still works fine on my iPad & on my pc.

Ever since I downloaded. IOS 17 my Messenger on both my iPhone 14 pro max and my iPad don’t work. They were working fine until the update. Everyone else in my family hasn’t had a problem only me. Please help, I use this app daily.
In particular, the latest update presently never completes the sending of a photo.
Whether it's the app or their backend I couldn't say, but photos to three different users on a known good network remain in "Sending…" status for hours.
You can send other messages or even follow up a photo with text but the photo is never delivered.
