Reminders App / List Type missing

The "List Type" option doesn't show within "Reminders" on my iphone. Does anybody know the root cause? I'm on iOS 17

My device is on English (UK) and is updated to 17.1.2. I only managed to 'fix' this last night.

I just saw on an apple article that it has to be an iCloud email, any other email won't work.

In settings I went to --> iCloud (by clicking Apple ID on top), then I clicked on iCloud again, then in the section " Apps using icloud" I clicked "show all", and enabled the on switch for Reminders.. Hope this helps.

Was in the same boat - tried basically everything. I finally changed "Preferred languages" in Language & Regions - basically removed my language as the first option (only English stayed). This enabled me to see the list type selection menu but it comes with caveats - weekday name in English and other stuff I'm not used to seeing.

It's definitely buggy! Although app language can be set separately as well through Settings (it was English already before), changing the language there did not change anything about seeing the list type selection.

I read one article by Apple itself that has to be icloud enabled in settings, but not a icloud mail. I think It is not an e-mail related, then when I switch language to English or Spanish it shouldn1t work, because e-mail keeps the same. And I didn't change region, language only. When in english, or spanish it works perfectly, as long as icloud is set to sync reminders. When language is in portuguese, or sweden, or another one than english and few others, it doesn't work, at least for me and few others users. Try to switch your language to portuguese-Brazilian and verify if reminders work with grocery list. Doesn't need to change region, language only, if possible for you to do that.

Hi,

I am on an unsupported language as well. In my case I found a workaround.

  • Go to settings and change the language to English
  • Go to reminders app and create a section that is a shopping list
  • Save it as a template
  • Return to settings and set to your own language
  • Go to the reminders app and create a new section based on the saved template.

Now for me the list behaves as a shopping list except for the classification of products, but I don’t mind.

I am curious when they are going to fix this. I use the phone in my native language (Hungarian) and it doesn't work. It works though if I pick English under Language and Region.

No one here in this user-to-user forum would know Apple's plans for the future. You can let them know what you'd like to see here:
