Annoying CarPlay screenshots

My truck is my office for most of the day and I like everything about CarPlay except the annoying extra screenshot it takes when you capture your screen. I use screenshot multiple times a day to communicate and it’s very annoying to have to delete all the pictures. How do you turn this off

Nobody asked whether this is expected behavior or not. This is a privacy issue. Many times I may have things up on my in car display that are NOT up on my phone. I don’t need the phone to screen cap my in car display whether purposeful or not.

Nobody needs to see my map, which audiobook is playing, what time it is, or what other apps are installed in my truck. If I want or need to screenshot my phone, I should not have to disable CarPlay or disconnect my phone to do so.

and I should not need to perform an extra step to delete the extra photo before I can send it.

This should be able to be disabled and the fact Apple doesn’t is flat out unethical. There is no viable or technical reason nor any use case where I’d want a screenshot of my CarPlay display.

This stuff seems like it’s designed by people who don’t actually use the product. It’s a terrible user experience

Thank you. It should not include what's on the car screen by default. People should be out there researching how to get a screenshot of the car screen using CarPlay not how to make it stop, let alone there not even being a way to actually make it stop. Seriously, who also wants a screenshot of what's on their car screen when they're literally using their iPhone to take a screenshot of what is only on the iPhone screen? Will there ever be a photo or anything of interest whatsoever on the car screen? No!

It also seems like the only people who have attempted (and utterly failed) to answer the question have never taken a screenshot on their iPhone in their car with CarPlay on, so they have no idea even what the problem is.

For those who might help, the issue is when you're sitting in your parking garage in your car, or in a parking lot, etcetera (in Hedwig voice), and you're, for instance, checking Instagram, and you take a few screenshots of pictures in Instagram, in your photo album for every screenshot of a photo from Instagram that you actually wanted, there will always ALSO be a screenshot of the useless, unimportant, and unwanted thing that was displayed on your car screen (such as a map image, the image of the music you were playing, etcetera (you know)). This is IN ADDITION to the only screenshot you actually wanted of each photo on Instagram. If you take ten screenshots of ten different Instagram photos, in addition to the ten, wanted Instagram photo screenshots, you will also have ten completely unwanted screenshots of, say, your map. That means instead of having ten (10) photos you wanted in your album, you now have twenty (20)!

That also means, in turn, for each and every screenshot you actually want, you will also have to spend the extra time to delete the unwanted extra screenshot of the useless thing that was on your car screen. No one wants this. No one. Why would we want ten extra screenshots of the same map image shown on the car screen over and over again? We do not want to disconnect our iPhones. We do not want to shut off the car in the summer when our air conditioning is running, or in the winter, when our heater is running.

If there is any way to disable this, um, feature, it should still be OFF by default.

To the “specialists that reply here”

I guess that you avoid the original question by deterring to Apple Feedback which is useless. Sounds like everyone is tired of IOS taking screenshots of the CarPlay interface when they are taking a screenshot of the iPhone screen. Makes zero sense why this behavior was not not an optional setting from the start instead of forcing people to utilize more storage on iCloud, more bandwidth backing it up, more time deleting photos that we didn’t want to take in the first place.

My phone is not connected to my CarPlay. It has been previously but I’ve disconnected it. I can be at work, in the store, at home. 50 miles away from my car and my phone still screens shots my app display. I can’t get it to stop. I’ve rebooted my phone everything I can think of. Won’t stop. Most annoying thing about this phone.
