AirDrop is not working after new iOS 17 update

iPhone 12 mini just upgraded to 17.0.3 and using Mac Mini Sonoma 14... I cannot airdrop from phone to Mac, though I can airdrop from Mac to phone. Phone tells me "No People Found"

Wondering if this is not related to the multitude of reports about 17 and wifi issues.

I’m trying to airdrop from iPhone 12Pro to iPad Air 4 both of which have been updated to 17.0.3. I’ve been using it for years. I’ve checked it’s turned on, on both devices. I’m on wifi at home. Bluetooth is on. I’ve rebooted both devices. Everything is still on that should be on. Only trying to airdrop one phone from iPhone to iPad but still getting Declined message immediately. I’m now waiting for 17.0.4 or 5 or 6 to fix the issue.

My girlfriend and I (both on iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 17.0.3) also have the same issue as we can’t airdrop to each other. Happens since iOS 17 and worked for years before…

Airplane mode or restart help if anything only once

UPDATE: I've now seen the same behavior--wifi shows connected, I get messages there's no Inet, wifi connection not working randomly, as well as failure of airdrop--using my same phone, same Mac mini, in another city while on a different Inet provider, needless to say different router/modem. The constant in this issue is APPLE!!

Trying to Airdrop from my iPhone or iPad (Both 17.x) to my Mac M1 Pro (MacOS Sonoma 14) does not work. It used to work without any issues.

I thought it was because my Mac has a different Apple ID (since it is for work), but I added myself as a contact on both my iPhone and Mac. My iPhone has my work email saved as a contact, and my Mac has my phone number and email as a contact.

It used to work with no issues, but now, when the Mac shows up, it's rejected. Usually doesn't show up in the list.

Same. I was able to send photos with airdrop from my phone to my moms. I got the 15 pro max, updated iOS and now her phone doesn't show up in my airdrop. Changed all the settings as suggested. Still not working,

One of the most powerful feature Airdrop broken with these updates and my iphone is hanging like a lot

The apple trust is getting down with these annoying bugs and this seems like a very basic feature to test but I am not sure why this didn’t get tested in Beta and now as its a major bug but no quick fix

I see this as well, but the fact is that it worked with a VPN--that I'm paying for--before I updated to 17 and now it doesn't with no change to VPN, network, wifi, iPhone, Mac...

I'm really starting to pay more attention to those Galaxy ads

I have lost my patience with Apple now. iOS17 is really full of bugs, including split-screen display bugs and keyboard input bugs etc. Just tooo much! I really don’t want to care about it at all and my next mobile phone will definitely not be Apple anymore.

I was able to use airdrop with my macbook m1 pro, after selecting the pictures/ videos you want to send, you click on the button "Options" and then you switch on "All Photos Data" and then you can choose to send by airdrops. Thanks to this method i was also able to get the "video" of the live photo

I believe there is bug in the airdrop updates. Counterpart automatically declined the airdrop though all settings are correct in their settings.

I never experience that before.

hopefully, the iPhone tech team takes a close look on the issue.

Just another person chiming in here. Since OS17 update, Airdrop also not working for me. I don't want to rant emotionally too much, but this really is extremely irritating. Airdrop was working just fine, I use it every day. And...now.. suddenly, Apple comes in and does who knows what and one of the most fundamental and useful tools is now busted. I mean, I've got work to do! Thanks, Apple!

So for me specifically I use Airdrop between my iPhone and Macbook Pro. The laptop 3 out of 4 times does not show up as recognized by the iphone (IOS 17.0.3). When/if it finally appears, the transfer hangs for a long time but does not execute.

And yes I have rebooted my phone and computer and made sure Airdrop is on lol.

Agree. There has not been a fix for this. I'm getting a great many no-Internet messages which may or may not go away after I check wifi and VPN. I'm now getting these while not on wifi, but on 5G. They usually correct, but only after I verify that yes there is a wifi connection already. Today I got a failed airdrop to mac from 12mini (which has worked flawlessly up until 17) and the VPN was not on. In fact when it finally did work the VPN WAS ON.

My iPad, iOS 16.7.2 and my iPhone, iOS 17.1 aren’t on talking terms anymore. I could take a photo with my iPhone, and airdrop it across to my iPad to edit/modify/change. Something as fundamental as this which was working just fine a few days ago, shouldn’t be lost because of an iOS upgrade. Not everyone can keep up with the Joneses.😊

This is happening to me but only on my iPad and only with my own devices that appear under “My Devices”.

I can airdrop to people near me over bluetooth airdrop, and they can airdrop to me. I can airdrop from my phone TO my iPad, but if I try to share anything with my iPhone, it automatically says declined without ever getting a notification on my phone. Both are updated to the latest software. No idea what’s going on.
